0.0 km. Set your trip odometer to zero (0) kilometers! 0.0 km. Cross the bridge next to the museum and head south toward Route 202. On your left you'll see the old mill's waterwheel and dam across the Pike River. Next is the Old Mill Tavern. 0.3 km. Turn left on Route 202, and head east toward Route 237. As you cross the next bridge over the Pike River look to the left and see the charming Hodge Store reflected in the water. 0.9 km. Turn right on Route 237 and follow historic Bunker Road southeast. Over the next few kilometers as you proceed toward the charming village of Frelighsburg, you will see an extraodrinary collection of historic Loyalist homes, in stone, brick and wood construction. 2.0 km. On the right is a particularly beautiful old stone house that has been lovingly restored and features a wood-framed addition on the south (left) side. The new stone wall along the road is done in the old Eastern Township style. 3.6 km. To the right is Blinn Road which leads toward a small bridge over the Pike River. This portion of Blinn Road was part of the original Boston Post Road that connected Montreal to Boston in 1792. 5.0 km. On the right is an atelier or wood shop devoted to Shaker-style furniture. Well worth a visit! 5.9 km. On the left is a blueberry farm and a large classic brick home. 7.6 km. As you round a slow curve into the Frelighsburg valley you will see the sharp summit of Jay Peak, Vermont. The local mountain, The Pinnacle, looms in the foreground. On the right you'll see the quaint hamlet of Hunter's Mills where you will find a dramatic waterfall, a pleasant camping site, and a charming B&B. 8.6 km. On the final 2 km stretch Frelighsburg you'll notice the Pike River meandering through the green flood plain on the right. This vallery becomes a large lake every spring with the snow melt. There are occasional traces of the 1880s railroad embankment that linked Stanbridge East and Freligshburg. On the left are the amazing dark-stained barns of "Au Coeur de la Pomme" where you can purchase freshly picked apples in season. 10.5 km. Now you pass the Dwyer Real Estate office on the left in a well preserved white-clapboard house in the New England style and suddenly you are at the center of the village of Frelighsburg with the Deux Clocher restaurant straight ahead, the town hall and parkon the left, and a bridge on the right. A sign indicated that Route 213 leads to the left (north) towards Dunham, but first you should explore this charming village. Let's explore the village of Frelighsburg before continuing on to Dunham.
