THE PAIGE KNIGHT GALLERY

Paige Knight

Paige Anderson Knight

On May 31st, at the official opening of the 2009 Missisquoi Museum season, the Paige Knight Gallery was inaugurated in honour of Paige Anderson Knight, substantial donor, Life Member, and past President of the Society.

Paige Anderson Knight was born on the Knight Homestead, educated at Stanbridge East Intermediate and Bedford High Schools; went to MacDonald College to become a teacher; then he taught for seven years at Val d'Or and Stanbridge East.

During the war he served as a flying-officer in the Canadian Air Force. Following the war he went on to graduate in meteorology from Queen's University; then launched upon his new career at Dorval Airport.

Following an early retirement, he returned to his birthplace Stanbridge East where he built a new home and became actively involved in the Missisquoi Historical Society.

Paige was an avid genealogist and also became known as the "historian" of Missisquoi County. His early research into the history of Missisquoi County lay the foundation for the information contained in many of the volumes published by the Missisquoi Historical Society.

All through the 2011 season, from the end of May until mid-October, several talented artists will present their work to visitors of the Museum.
